Wheatley Provincial Park & Point Pelee National Park

This past long weekend a friend and I decided to witch our plans from a very wet and cold provincial park up north to the slightly drier, warmer and sunnier park in the south. We ended up having a wonderful weekend and some great photo opportunities. Sometimes changing your plans is well worth it. Here are a couple of shots of the beach in Wheatley Provincial Park.

One of the days we were there we decided to visit Point Pelee National Park. The most southern point of mainland Canada and one of the best spots to see bird, butterfly and dragonfly migrations in the fall and spring. I had hopes that we may see some butterflies and I was not disappointed. Although they did not number in the hundreds, there were dozens enjoying the park.

The park points out when you hit the 42nd parallel.

the 42nd parallel

Point Pelee is literally a section of the land that converges into a point. Here individuals can stand and say that they are standing on the southern most point of mainland Canada.
